The WFD objective is to establish a comprehensive frame of sustainable water management and the amelioration, restoration and protection of all surface waters including groundwater bodies. One step of the implementation of the
directive was to establish a river typology including all rivers and streams with catchment areas >10 km².
This report includes the descriptions of the river typologies and the river type specific status objectives for the quality elements of the SHARE participating countries Austria, France, Italy, Germany and Slovenia.
